HOW TO GO IN THE WATER

Typically there are two ways of entering the water and go kiting or foiling. Kiters usually set up their gear on the beach, while foilers and windsurfers set up their gear on the boat and go in the water directly from the main big platform. The boat is conveniently positioned so that, as soon as you are in the water, you will pushed offshore. We can also set up kites on the boat, if that is needed, and then launch them directly from the boat.

THE TEAM

Sick Dog and its team has been organizing Kite Cruises (we call them Kite Safaris) since 2014, for groups, friends, couples, solo travellers from all around the world. Our trips are international and the official language on board is English. Every week is different, not only the route, but also the team that will be on board – you will have a strong and experienced team on board and on the beach to help you out and make sure your progression is on point.

THE BOAT

New Regency is a 35m long yacht, hosting up to 22 guests plus 2 kite guides. It comes with a egyptian crew, including a captain, sailors, and 2 chefs. All cabins are double, with private toilet and shower, and air-condition. There is also a restaurant, that will offer 3 fresh meals per day, and snacks all day long. The upper wooden deck is dedicated to chill and relax, with music and a small bar, and on top there is a big solarium.

New Regency has also two zodiacs to help kiters reach the kite spots, and to help foilers and windsurfers and kiters if they need any rescue.

WING & WINDSURF AND CRUISE DAY BY DAY

As we mentioned, the windy spots in the Red Sea that are suitable for kiters, foilers and windsurfers are exactly the same – well we need is wind! In case of light wind, it will be much harder for kiters to go in the water, while wingers and windsurfers will still be able – in such cases we normally go towards windy spots that offer great no wind activities, like snorkeling, wakeboarding or stand up paddleboarding (all activities included in the price of the cruise).

Below you will find a classic North Cruise day by day, but keep in mind that the plan is subject to change, depending on the wind, on the group, and more in general on the condition we will find at sea. We will do our best to visit as many windy spots as possible and to choose the best spot for the day.

DAY 1 – On the first day, your flight will take you to  the Hurghada International Airport (HRG), where one of our team will meet you and take you to the boat. Also if you arrive late at night that won’t be a problem. but remember that the boat will leave the marina at 7am of Day 2! Arrived on board, you will go to your cabin and meet the rest of the team and the guests that have already arrived. The first night will be in the Marina, to be ready for departure the morning after, as early as possible.

Day 2 – We will move as early as we can to our first kitesurfing spot, Abu Mungar – only 30 minutes navigation from Hurghada Marina and one of the best windy spot of the Red Sea.  It’s a great place to check if all your gear is in order and have a good warm up session. We will be kiting all day here till sunset, and we will be sleeping on board at this spot.

Day 3 – We will have an early dawn session, we will wake up at 6am to have a session before breakfast! Of course this session is optional, and if you prefer to save your energy for your morning session, you can simply sleep till breakfast. During breakfast we will move to Tawila Island, another great spot in the Red Sea, where we will kite again till sunset. Music and drinks on the main deck after kiting to prepare us for dinner, then a well deserved rest @Tawila.

Day 4 – We will be staying in Tawila all day, and sleep on board at this spot.

Day 5 – We will move northern at dawn to reach one of the spots in Geisum Island. We will kite all day there and if the conditions are right we will have a bbq on the beach at night.

Day 6 – Today is downwinder day! We will be moving by boat to the northest and remotest part of our planned route, Ashrafi Islands –  we will be kiting back from there to Geisum (approx 90 minutes), an easy downwinder where all you have to do is follow the boat. This download is open to everyone that can ride and that feel comfortable kiting in deep water. Arrived at Geisum, we will kite there all day.

Day 7 – Last day at sea! We need to sail back to the Marina by sunset, so we will be in the water early and try to push lunch as late as possible. We will then navigate back to the Marina to have a last dinner on board and possibly explore a bit Hurghada or El Gouna for drinks. We will sleep in the boat at the Marina of Hurghada

Day 8 – It’s time to head back to the airport of to an hotel, if you decide to spend a few days extra in Egypt. We will organize your transfer, and hope to see you on board next time!

As we said, but it is worth repeating, this is our classic North Route, but depending on the wind and sea condition, we can obviously change it. The classic example is if we have a day with poor wind: in such case we will skip for that day one of the spot mentioned and head to a more chilled spot where other activities can be performed, on top of wingfoiling and windsurfing.

• Transfers from and to the airport. If you want to spend some extra days in Egypt and if you need therefore extra transfers, we can also help out, depending on your needs. Keep in mind that included in the price there are only 2 transfers, any extra transfer is 10€ per person.
• A bed in a shared cabin on the boat for 7 nights.
