This Pentecost holiday (Finster, as it is called in most European countries), we will have our boat ready for a kitesurf cruise in the Red Sea. Join the Sick Dog team for a week of kitesurfing in the Red Sea, warm waters, flat waters and sunny days are waiting for you.
A kitesurf cruise in Egypt, called also kite safari, is a week long boat trip in the Red Sea, kiting in the best spot that this warm sea has to offer. We use the boat to move from spot to spot (that’s why it is called kite safari), and it serves us as a moving hotel – we sleep by the kite spot every night. The boat is not just a simple boat, it is a luxury motor yacht with cabins accommodating 2 persons, all with private toilet, shower and air-condition. This trip is a lot of kitesurfing – we kite every day, from early morning, sometimes even before breakfast, till the sun goes down. And of course the boat is always available for a break and ready to welcome us for food and drinks.
This year we decided to organize a special Pentecost trip, from the 18th of May till the 25th of May 2024. If you are planning a kitesurfing holiday around this period, this could be the trip for you. And if you never tried before kitesurfing, this could be a good time to get started – since i’ve decided to include a kitesurfing course this year for free if you join our boat trip! Many kite schools charge 400€ or more for teaching you kitesurfing. With our trip, this is included in the price.
This kitesurf cruise will start from the marina of Hurghada, Egypt, on Saturday 18th May 2024. We will welcome you on board that day, and we will have our first night in the marina, exploring the town of Hurghada and having a good dinner to properly meet up. We will sleep on the boat in the marina, ready to departure on Sunday early morning! We arrive back to the marina on the late afternoon of the 24th, for a last night on board, and we will leave the boat the 25th.
If you need help for finding flights to come to Egypt let us know – we have good contact with travel agencies and local operators, and we can definitely help you out. The airport of arrival is Hurghada international airport. And if Pentecost is not the right time of the year for you, check our Kite Cruise weeks plan, to see all our scheduled trips!
This week we are going to use the boat Queen Sherry. This luxury motor yacht accommodates up to 22 kiters, with 2 extra beds for kite guides (1 of these 2 is reserved for me), it has a spacious restaurant, where our chef will cook for you 3 meals per day and some snacks after our kite sessions, a big inside lounge with TV and music set, a large solarium, a cozy upper deck with a bar for our evening activities and a main deck for setting up the kite gear of the day.
Queen Sherry comes with its own crew – a captain, a chef, sailors, and a few kite gurus from our Sick Dog team. I will be personally on board and i’ve organized already many trips and kite safaris in the Red Sea, since we started in 2014, so you are in safe hands. Queen Sherry is a big and cozy boat, with plenty of space to relax and with most of the facilities you may need on a trip for a week. It will be soon like being home. It comes with two zodiacs, that will be used to go kite in the different kite spots, lagoons and sandy beaches and for rescue kiters in need.
18th May – It’s the arrival day! We will meet you at the airport and on board of our shuttle bus we will go to the marina, where Enigma will be waiting for you. The crew and our team will be there, and we will show you your cabin. The first day we will have dinner on the boat and maybe head to Hurghada town for a drink, or chill on the boat if we feel lazy. We will sleep the first night with the boat moored in the marina, ready to leave tomorrow early morning.
19th May – Early in the morning we will start our trip, and during breakfast we will head to our first kite spot, a beautiful island not far from Hurghada, called Abu Mungar. We will have there our first morning session, a good warm up for the week, and our first lunch. We will spend in Abu Mungar also our afternoon, and sleep with the boat next to this kite spot to be ready for the morning.
20th May – I will wake up at 5:30am for an early morning session, and if you feel strong you can join! A coffee and to kite for a few hours before breakfast. During breakfast we will move to our second spot, Tawila, one of the most famous kite spot of the Red Sea, and for good reasons. This kite spot is ideal for learning and is blessed with very flat water, making it a perfect place for kite progression. We will stay all day in Tawila, and sleep here as well.
21st May – Again sunrise session if we are ready for it, and all day kiting. We are going to have one more night in Tawila, cause it is worth it.
22nd May – As early as possible the boat will move to Geisum, a little further up north from Tawila, a great place to kite and to have a bbq on the beach. We will stay in Geisum for the night.
23rd May – This is the day for our easy downwinder! The boat will move early morning to Ashrafi, even further up north, and from there we will ride back to Geisum during our 2h downwiner. We will stay in Geisum all day and stay there for the night – the downwinder is open to everyone, but if you don’t feel like it, there is plenty of time for kiting during the rest of the day.
24th May – This is the last day kiting day, we will do our last sunrise session and after lunch we will head back to Hurghada. We will have one last dinner on the boat (but we can go to restaurant in town if we feel like) and we will sleep on the boat in the marina, but before we could party a little in Hurghada or El Gouna if we still have energy!
25th May – It’s time to leave, after lunch our shuttle bus will pick you up to bring you back to the airport, or to a hotel if you decide to stay in Egypt a little longer. See you on board next time!
This is our day to day program of the week – it depends on the wind and according to the wind forecast the plan may change.
In case of no wind, we have planned activities, like wakeboarding and snorkeling – June is a very good month for kitesurfing in Egypt, and while wind is obviously not guaranteed, it is very probable that we will have wind. Also do not forget that in the middle of the sea, the wind is generally stronger than at land, making it even more probable to get good wind.

This week our donation box will collect funds for EgyptEquineAid.org – Check their website and see what’s the scope of their charity and see their amazing work. Every cruise we try to give back to our local community or to charities that are close to our hearts, and even a little help can be a big help for them. At the end of the kite cruise week there will be a raffle where one of the donors will win a Sick Dog Shirt.
