Marine Park Fee for a Kite Safari — What are those?
Marine Park Fee is a fee (as the name suggest) that every foreign kiter needs to pay to the coast guard to be allowed to kite in the island of the Red Sea. The official cost is 45USD, but many boats charges more than that. Why that happens? Why for all kite safari, the Marine Park Fee is more than 45USD?
The explanation is simple — on top of this 45USD, all the boats charge an extra cost for having the boat parked at the Marine (from here the name, Marine Park Fee). So basically this is a kind of arbitrary fee that the boat applies to any of its foreign (non egyptian) kiter. Not great.
I see boats charging 100€ or more for Marine Park Fee — I do understand that these boats are parked in the New Hurghada Marina, but similar boats charge 70/80€, that seems to me a more reasonable price.
Which Marinas can you find in Hurghada for your Kite Safari?
New Marina — Beautiful but expensive to park your boat there
Old Sheraton Marina — Horrible
Masharabeya Marina — Cute and super quiet. My personal favorite
Marine Sport Club — A bit chaotic, but a good option
Marriot Marina — Nice but small
Shellgada Marina — Also an interesting option, as not many boats are allowed to park there
How much Heaven Liberty charges?
I try to charge 60€ for Marine Park fee for Heaven Liberty, the boat we manage all year round. And we try to avoid Old Sheraton Marina at all costs.
I love kitesurfing, travelling, and making short walks with my dog. I organize kite cruises in Egypt since 2014, you may find me in some windy beach pretty much all year round when I’m not on the boat, may it be Egypt, Cape Verde, Mauritius or Greece. I drink red wine and play (badly) the guitar. You can contact me at +201009410388 (whatsapp or calls) or just email me at info@sickdogsurf.com
Hope to see you on board one of these days!
