What to bring (and what not) for a Kite Safari in Egypt
A quick list of items you will need (and a few that you won’t) during a Kite Safari in Egypt. I’ll keep this list updated and add more items over time.
WHAT TO BRING
Watershoes — Mandatory for full beginners and waterstarters, recommended for anyone else. If you ride well, you won’t need watershoes. If you plan on walking around in the water with your kite at 12 searching for your board, then you will.
Shampoo and Shower gel — Every cabin has hand soap and that’s it, for a good shower bring your own Shower gel and Shampoo.
Hair Dryer – I don’t need one, and most people don’t either. But if you do, bring one.
A beach Towel — if you want to lay on the beach.
Fins — While we have Masks and Snorkels, we don’t have fin for everyone. In case of no wind, having your own pair of means it’s fun.
Wetsuits – We don’t rent wetsuits on the boat, and during March, April, May, October, and November you’ll need either a long or a short wetsuit. Come prepared!
Drones and walkie-talkie – These are illegal in Egypt and may be confiscated at the airport (they will be returned upon departure). Bring them at your own risk!
Too Many Alcoholic Bottles – Only 1 bottle per person is allowed in Egypt; bringing more could lead to issues at customs.
WHAT NOT TO BRING
Towels for the Room — Each cabin has two towels. You may need a towel for the beach, but you’re covered for your shower.
Kite Pump — we use a smart system to pump our kites on the beach — Dive tanks and an universal connector that I built personally that can pump every kite in the market. In 10 years, I still didn’t find a kite I could not pump. I challenge you to bring me a kite I can’t pump — you will get a free Sick Dog shirt if you succeed.
Bed Linens — we provide those, of course.
