Kitesurfing in Egypt in November: How Is the Wind? Kite Safari conditions – Explained

It is no mystery that the best wind conditions in Egypt are from May to September. Statistics measured over the years are pretty clear: on average, it is during the summer that you have the best chances of getting good wind. So the question is obvious (and in fact, many people ask me this): why do I organize Kite Safaris in November? And more importantly, kiters ask me: does it make sense for me to come for a kite safari in November? Let’s go into more detail and see why yes and why no…

WHY YES

Europe gets really cold, and unless you have the luxury of flying to warmer seas across the globe, it’s not pleasant to kite in Europe. Personal opinion, but correct me if I’m wrong: It’s actually insane to kite in Europe in November, and personally, I would not do it even if I were paid… That’s why many kiters come to Egypt: it’s not the best windy season in Egypt, but it is reasonably warm.

Flights are cheap (not sure why, but they are). You can get a really cheap kitesurfing holiday, and it does make a lot of sense…

It’s windier than you think. Most of the time, people check Hurghada wind statistics when planning to come kitesurfing in Egypt, but that is correct only if you kite in Hurghada. WE DO NOT KITE IN HURGHADA! We kite in the islands of the Red Sea, and the wind is much, much stronger there than on land. There is no comparison. Please do not check wind statistics for Hurghada and then text me telling me that the wind statistics are bad in November. They are not bad where we go kiting.

WHY NOT

If you have the luxury of choosing your holiday whenever you want, I would agree that other months are better.

But I organize Kite Safaris every November, and they are always full – so I’m not the only one believing that it does make sense…
