Kite Cruise Tawila Spot

Which is the best Kite Spot in Egypt?

Which is the best Kite Spot in Egypt?

The answer is simple – Tawila is the best kitesurfing spot in the Red Sea. Period. After hundreds of kite safaris, it’s officially my favorite. A huge beach, great wind conditions, shallow areas, deep areas, and an overall energy that I love. Let’s go into more detail to see what I really love about Tawila Island.

The Beach

Even with many yachts at sea, Tawila Beach is large and offers plenty of space to set up my home camp. The beach itself is beautiful, sandy, and clean.

The Spot

The wind is offshore (as it is at every kitesurfing spot in the Red Sea). There is a training lagoon on the right side and a main lagoon in front of the home camp, and it’s a big one. Tides make this spot unique: at low tide, sandbanks emerge, turning parts of this kite spot into a flat-water paradise. The first 20 meters next to the beach are perfect and often that’s where the best riders kite. Everyone else naturally heads downwind, where there’s more space to kite and still excellent conditions.

Secret lagoon

A short trip upwind will take you to a secret lagoon with onshore wind. Onshor Kite spots are unusual for a kite safari, that’s why it’s well worth a visit – it takes about 30 minutes to get there, and then you just walk back to the main spot with your kite at 12.

Downwinder

Tawila is the final destination for some of our downwinders – and reaching it after a two-hour ride is pure satisfaction. It’s beautiful.

Some say no

Ashrafi is a fan favorite because of its huge shallow lagoon, making it perfect for beginners. Some kiters love Abu Mungar (which I hate) for its landscape. If it’s empty, South Geisum is also great. But still, I feel Tawila is unbeatable.

I love kitesurfing, travelling, and making short walks with my dog. I organize kite cruises in Egypt since 2014, you may find me in some windy beach pretty much all year round when I’m not on the boat, may it be Egypt, Cape Verde, Mauritius or Greece. I drink red wine and play (badly) the guitar. You can contact me at +201009410388 (whatsapp or calls) or just email me at [email protected] Hope to see you on board one of these days!
