What I hate and What I love during my Kite Safari

What I hate and What I love during my Kite Safari

Maybe hate is a strong word, but there are some things I really don’t enjoy during our kite safari. Don’t get me wrong, the energy on our yacht is always great, but sometimes things happen outside of it that I would rather not see.

WHAT I HATE

Loud Music on the beach: I don’t understand why people bring big speakers to the beach. The sea, the wind, the sound of the sand, isn’t that enough? I don’t want to hear house music blasting at 10 a.m.

Banners and Flags: Some yachts like to promote their trips by putting flags and banners on the beach. Every time I see one, all I can think is that if I misland my kite, it’ll crash right into a banner and be destroyed. I prefer to keep the beach as minimal as possible: dive tanks to pump our kites, one umbrella and a few chairs, some water and drinks, and of course our carpet with all the kite gear. That’s all we need.

WHAT I LOVE

Pumping kites: That’s only because we don’t use manual pumps, but a practical system made of dive tanks and a universal connector. I actually enjoy pumping different kites, checking their condition, and feeling and hearing the crisp of the canopy.

Repairing kites: If you’ve been on the boat with me, you’ve probably seen me repairing kites. It’s something I usually do in the evenings or during lunch breaks. Honestly, I’m not that good at it, but my enthusiasm makes up for my lack of skill. Of course, if the cut is too big, I can’t repair it. Think of me as a kite doctor in a war zone, I’ll fix it fast and just good enough to keep your kite alive.

Evening Games: my trademark Music Game, the Coffee Game, and Mafia (a Russian game also known as Werewolves in Europe). I’ve always loved playing and organizing games, ever since I was a kid, so it feels natural to keep doing it as an adult.

I love kitesurfing, travelling, and making short walks with my dog. I organize kite cruises in Egypt since 2014, you may find me in some windy beach pretty much all year round when I’m not on the boat, may it be Egypt, Cape Verde, Mauritius or Greece. I drink red wine and play (badly) the guitar. You can contact me at +201009410388 (whatsapp or calls) or just email me at [email protected] Hope to see you on board one of these days!
