Can a Kite Safari be Cancelled?

Can a Kite Safari be Cancelled?

This is a question that comes often from my kiters. Can this really happens? Will the kite safari happen for sure?

The simple answer is yes – some kite safari organizers, if they don’t get to a minimum numbers of kiters, cancel the trip and refund the money. We have never cancelled a kite safari and right now this is an absolute remote possibility – we have our own yacht and we can have a kite safari also with a small group. Most of the times we are 20/22 kiters and 6 members of our team. The boat Heaven Liberty (that we uses most weeks) can keep 28 persons in total.

OTHER REASONS THAT CAN CAUSE THE CANCELLATION OF A KITE SAFARI

Covid: it happened in the past. If Covid will strike back and make impossible to fly, we will obviously return you your deposit and see you next time. In 2020 everyone stopped all kite safaris (as the whole world stopped). Will it happen again?

War: will the war in Ukraine or in Palestina escalate? Will be Europe open to fly, or some more countries will enter these wars? Impossible to predict… If that will happen, as above, money will be returned and the trip will be cancelled if my kiters can’t fly.

Short summary: if airport are open, and Egypt is safe to travel to, the kite safari will happen. And no, we never cancelled a kite safari, so once you book with us, you can be pretty much guaranteed that this trip will happen.

AND WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU CANCEL A KITE SAFARI?

When you book a kite safari, you will need to send us a deposit of 300€, to reserve your spot on board. This way, we are sure you really want to come with us, and we expect you on board. Please do not cancel, cause two things will happen:

  1. You will lose your deposit, unless you are a very good reason to cancel the kite safari. Examples of bad reasons are: ”I need to work” ”I need to go to a wedding” ”I cannot find a good flight to come to Egypt” ”There is not much wind, according to the forecast, can I change my week?”
  2. I will have an empty spot on the boat, and I’m never happy with that.

Generally speaking, book a kite safari by paying your deposit only if you are sure that you will come. And book your flights at the same time as you pay your deposit.

At the same time: there are good reasons to cancel a trip. and sometimes there are problems bigger than our trip. If you really need to cancel, I will move your deposit to another week this or next year. Promise

I love kitesurfing, travelling, and making short walks with my dog. I organize kite cruises in Egypt since 2014, you may find me in some windy beach pretty much all year round when I’m not on the boat, may it be Egypt, Cape Verde, Mauritius or Greece. I drink red wine and play (badly) the guitar. You can contact me at +201009410388 (whatsapp or calls) or just email me at [email protected] Hope to see you on board one of these days!
