The key to book a perfect kite safari – Check the forecast

The Key to Book a Perfect Summer Kite Safari: Check the Forecast

As most of you guys do, when you decide to join a kite safari, you usually contact me well in advance. You need to take time off work, make arrangements with your friends, book flights, and generally get everything organized. A kite safari is not exactly something most people can decide to do overnight.

But. If you’re more of a free spirit and have the option (and the luxury) of being able to book a kite safari at the last second, the key is simple: check the wind forecast.

This summer is the perfect example. The wind will sooner or later chill out, but right now we have been blessed with great conditions since June. As you can see on our wind page here, conditions are currently excellent (22nd June 2026, as of today), and the forecast looks incredibly promising.

This is exactly the time when, again, if you can, you should contact me and try to grab a last-minute spot on a kite safari. Sometimes there are cancellations, sometimes we have a free cabin, and those spots often come with a very nice discount.

THEORIES ABOUT THE WIND

I’ve read it all online and heard it directly from „experts“ of the Red Sea. Some say that July is a bad month for kitesurfing in Egypt, while others claim August is not the right time to come. So I’ll give you my opinion as well.

And my opinion won’t change until someone manages to convince me otherwise. It’s that simple. But first, let’s look at some of the most common theories and why I don’t really buy them.

JULY IS NOT A GOOD MONTH TO KITE IN EGYPT

Why in the world should June and August be good months while July isn’t? What exactly is the difference?

The water temperature is basically the same. The air temperature is basically the same. So what exactly should change? What happens on the 1st of July that suddenly makes the wind bad?

Nobody has ever managed to explain that one to me. If there is a reason, I’d genuinely love to hear it.

AUGUST IS NOT A GOOD MONTH TO KITE IN EGYPT

Come on.

This one makes even less sense. Historically, August has always been one of the strongest and most reliable wind months in the Red Sea. We’ve had amazing kite safaris in August for years.

It is probably the month I would choose if someone forced me to pick just one month of the year.

SO WHY ARE THESE MONTHS NOT THAT POPULAR?

Simply because there are many more Plan Bs.

You can kite in Greece, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and the list goes on. During summer, many kiters have good wind options much closer to home, so they don’t necessarily feel the need to jump on a plane and come to Egypt.

That doesn’t mean Egypt suddenly becomes a bad destination. It just means there are more alternatives available.

DO KITE SAFARIS STILL RUN IN THE SUMMER?

Yessss.

We don’t really stop, because conditions are often great. The water is warm, the islands are beautiful, and when the forecast lines up, the sessions can be absolutely epic.

In fact, summer can be one of the best times to join a kite safari if you’re flexible. Keep an eye on the forecast, contact me when you see a windy week coming, and you might end up getting both great wind and a great deal.
