Why a Kite Safari in March is a Good Idea?

Last year (2025) I started my trips in April. I knew I was going to be at sea a lot, I was a bit lazy, wanted to spend time with my dog after a long winter break in Cape Verde, and didn’t think it was a good idea in general. Then in November, at the end of the kite safari season I realized: am I sure it’s not a good idea to organize a kite cruise in March here? Let’s make a list of the Pros and Cons of a Kite Safari in Egypt in March.

PRO

Uncrowded kite spots – Most kiters join a kite safari in April/May because not many people organize trips in March. But I do. That’s why the kite spots are pretty much empty in March. Simple.

Flights are really cheap – Not sure why, but flights to Egypt are extremely cheap in March.

Good wind conditions (at sea) -True, the wind season in Egypt typically starts in April. But that’s valid on land. At sea, the wind conditions are better, much better.

Pleasant weather – It depends on you. I prefer hot kitesurfing and don’t mind the warm Egyptian summer sun, but most of you prefer a more temperate climate, and March could be the right compromise for you.

CONTRA

Wetsuit time – You need to pack your long wetsuit. It’s not cold, but mornings in the water can be a bit chilly.
