Kiteboard on the Shore

Kite Safari – Meaning

Kite Safari – Meaning

A kite safari is a kitesurfing trip where a group of kiters travels from one kite spot to another using various means of transportation, such as their kite, a car or buggy, or most commonly, a boat. The most popular format – and the one we offer – is a week-long kite cruise in Egypt.

CHANGING BUT NOT ONLY CHANGING

A kite safari is not just about moving our yacht every day – traveling to a new spot (even if we sail at sunrise) takes time sailing, and time spent sailing means less time kitesurfing. Instead, a kite safari is about finding the best kite spots and spending the right amount of time at each one. Typically, over the course of a week, we visit three to four kite spots.

FOR WHO IS RECOMMENDED A KITE SAFARI?

A kite safari is good for all level of kiters – full beginners and waterstarters will find shallow & flat waters, ideal condition for learning kitesurfing. Intermediates will enjoy a kite safari for similar reasons – flat conditions are great for progressing (upwind riding, transitions, first jump). For advanced riders (big airs and hooked and unhooked tricks) stable winds are fundamental, and that’s what they will find during a kite cruise.

Kitesurfing progression is guaranteed. If it’s windy (and normally it’s windy at sea) you will be progressing during a kite safari: with our cruises, kite lessons are included in the cost of your kite holiday.

WHAT WILL YOU HAVE DURING A KITE SAFARI

  • A lot of kitesurfing: that’s all we do if it’s windy during the day time, 3 times per day.
  • Help on the beach: our team will help you on the beach with landing, launching and rescues (if you get in trouble kiting)
  • Kite Lessons: we believe in the idea of a kite safari as a kite camp, where everyone needs to progress. That’s why we include kite lessons at all levels during our cruise
  • A luxury yacht: a kite safari is an all inclusive holiday, with food, drinks and accommodation included in the cost of your cruise
  • No wind activities: when it’s no wind we go snorkeling & wakeboarding, and we have stand up paddles to enjoy the warm waters of the Red Sea.

NOT ONLY KITING

Don’t get me wrong: a kite safari is about kitesurfing. But it’s also more than that. It’s a social experience: you will meet new kiters from all over the world, and the yacht gives you the right balance between a fun trip with a big group (around 20 kiters) and a bit of privacy & time for yourself if you want. Music, food, drinks, jokes and games are all part of this kitesurfing adventure: – that’s why we always have 1/2 non kiters on board – the yacht is a fun place to be, also if you are not kiting.

I love kitesurfing, travelling, and making short walks with my dog. I organize kite cruises in Egypt since 2014, you may find me in some windy beach pretty much all year round when I’m not on the boat, may it be Egypt, Cape Verde, Mauritius or Greece. I drink red wine and play (badly) the guitar. You can contact me at +201009410388 (whatsapp or calls) or just email me at [email protected] Hope to see you on board one of these days!
