As a few of you may have noticed, I started talking about different topics rather than just kite safaris in Egypt. There are a few reasons for this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. I\u2019m running out of ideas. I noticed I started being repetitive and boring to read. Maybe I\u2019m always boring to read, but for sure, writing the same thing over and over, kite safari, kite safari, kite safari, was maybe a little too much…<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Egypt is king, but maybe there are some other kitesurfing kingdoms out there to explore?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    That\u2019s why I\u2019ve decided I will (slowly) start writing articles about other kitesurfing destinations<\/strong> around the world, and today I wanted to talk about kitesurfing in Sri Lanka. I\u2019ve been talking with the guys at Kitesurfing Lanka<\/a> (KSL), and they seem super enthusiastic about what they do (a bit like me). They\u2019ve spent years building a place for riders who want more than just a holiday – they want an adventure, a little bit like me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Endless Wind?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In Kalpitiya, there is not just one “kite season”<\/strong>; there are two distinct windows of good conditions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Summer<\/strong> (May to October): The best. Expect 20\u201330 knots almost every single day. It\u2019s warm, consistent, and powerful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Winter<\/strong> (December to March): Lighter. 15\u201320 knot winds under blue skies, a great place to escape the winter in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    2. The Lagoon vs. The Ocean – why not both?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Kalpitiya Lagoon offers flat, flat, flat water<\/strong>, making it one of the best places in Asia to kite. If you instead, like me, prefer the open sea, the Indian Ocean<\/strong> is just a sandbar away…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    3. Different kite spots<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For those used to the adventure of a kite safari, you can ride straight from the camp at the KSL Lagoon or explore nearby spots like Donkey Point, or go even further: boat trips can take you to remote sandbanks and hidden lagoons like Dream Spot or Vella Island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    4. Good Vibes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The place feels real<\/strong>. What I mean, it\u2019s remote, cozy, and made to disconnect. Yoga, healthy food, and great vibes overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I was in Thailand this year, and I couldn\u2019t kite there because I got homesick and had to fly back to Milan (yeah, it really happened). But next time I\u2019m in Asia, I\u2019ll do Thailand and visit the guys at KSL in Sri Lanka (if they give me a good price).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
